Access to doctors/Nurses

couple_counsellingIn keeping with Government guidelines we are working towards an appointment system that allows access to a doctor or nurse within 48 hours.  We guarantee to see anyone the same day if it is considered to be medically necessary.

Online APPOINTMENT Services -CURRENTLY SUSPENDED

This service allows you to book routine appointments with a Doctor. The appointment duration is 10 minutes - please be realistic about what can be achieved in 10 minutes. If you feel that you will need a longer consultation than this, please call our receptionists and they will arrange a longer appointment for you.

At present you can check and cancel existing Doctor and Nurse appointments using the Online service. We are unable to offer you access to book Nurse appointments at this time. For queries about all other appointments, please contact the Practice on 01224 745800 between the hours of 8am - 5pm.

In addition, you can also order your repeat prescriptions using the online service. Please select the appropriate tab to proceed.

Routine Appointments

These are 10 minute appointments, available every day, morning and afternoon, and should be booked in advance via the on-line service, by telephone or in person.  If your problem is lengthy, or you feel you need extra time, ask for a longer appointment.

Please help the reception staff by giving them details of why you require an appointment as this will help us greatly in allocating an appropriate appointment for you.    We appreciate that you might always feel comfortable providing this information and we will of course respect your privacy if this is the case.

Separate appointments are required for each person being seen.  We  now offer an on-line service for booking routine 10 minute doctor appointments - please ask at reception for more details - this service is currently suspended.

Urgent Appointments

These are for conditions that cannot wait until the next routine appointment and are available every day, morning and afternoon.  If you need an urgent appointment, you will be seen as soon as possible on that day.  Please inform the reception staff of your symptoms so that you can be triaged effectively by the doctor.

Evening Appointments

To accommodate those who cannot access the surgery during working hours, we offer appointments on most Monday evenings from 5.30 p.m. at Kingswells Medical Practice.   Please ask at reception for details.  The following information relates to these evening appointments:

  • Appointments must be pre-booked, this is not a drop-in service.
  • All appointments will be with a GP, there are no nurse appointments.
  • Any cancellations must be made before 5.00 p.m. as the surgery telephone lines will not be available after 5.00 p.m. for cancellations
  • Urgent medical attention after 6.00 p.m. will still be provided by the Out-Of-Hours service by telephoning 111.

Interpreting Services

Interpreting services are available from sources such as Aberdeen & North East Deaf Society, Grampian Racial Equality, and through Language Link, a telephone interpreting service.  Further details can be given on request.
